Bitpim dismounts my drives

Every time Bitpim runs the "Detect Phone" code, it disconnects a USB drive I have on another port.  I get the message, "The disk was not ejected properly. If possible, always eject a disk before unplugging it or turning it off."  It seems as if whatever code Bitpim is using to scan the various USB ports is less than non-destructive to ports in actual use.

I would expect a problem like this would have been reported previously, but there's only so much research one can do when the interface to the mailing list archives doesn't offer any type of search facility.  So sorry if this is a duplicate report.

Is there a known workaround for this?

I'm running 1.0.7-Test on Mac OS 10.6.5.
