Thank you for the reply; I will try this.

Just curious, why is SMS grayed out and not checkable inside the get data from
phone window?  I would like to try to retrieve the cell phone's text messages,
but it appears this is not an option in bitpim.

Also, if it turns out that I cannot successfully retrieve all the data from the
phone without it giving that error, is there a way that I can access the photos
that have been successfully saved?  A way to get them out of bitpim's database
and make them accessible to my filesystem?
