Invitation: Kannel development meeting, May 18-19, 2000, Helsinki

The Kannel team at WapIT would like to invite all parties interested
in the development of Kannel, the open source WAP and SMS gateway,
to Helsinki, on May 18 and 19, 2000. The goal is to have presentations
and discussions on at least the following topics:

	* Kannel architecture, now and in the future.
	
	* Current problems in the gateway and solutions to them.
	
	* Standards compliance.
	
	* Development commitments by various parties.
	
	* How Kannel is actually being used commercially right now.

	* Marketing issues.
	
	* Presentation on WTLS work from 3UI.COM.
	
	* Presentation on box authentication and WML decompiler from
	  Vanteon.
	
	* Future of WAP in general and Kannel in particular. The impact
	  of new mobile networks on both.

The exact agenda is open, and depends also on the wishes of the
participants. If you're coming and want to make a presentation or add
something to the list of topics that need to be discussed, please inform
[email protected].

All of the Kannel team at WapIT and other relevant WapIT people will
be present. You do not need to pre-register, but it would be nice to
mail [email protected] if you are coming, so that we can determine the
popularity and make sure there is enough room. We are now prepared for 40
people - if this overflows a lot, we need to find a bigger meeting room.

Since the meeting comes so soon, we want to make it easy to find hotel
rooms. We have reserved, but will not pay for, ten rooms at hotel Ramada
President. They cost FIM 910 (153 euro, USD 137) per night. The two
hotels are within walking distance of each other, and at the very center
of Helsinki downtown area, and close to WapIT as well. If you want one
of these rooms, or want help finding a cheaper one, please contact our

7007, no later than May 11. Unfortunately, we can't pay for your rooms,
you will have to do that yourself, but we can at least make it easier
to find them.
