Please join us for the Second Kannel Developers Conference on 7 - 9
September 2000 at the South Pacific Hotel in Hong Kong. Below we have
included information about the preliminary agenda, the hotel, the social
event and visa requirements.

There is a web page where you should register for the conference and the
social event, http://www.wapit.com/kannel_registration/. Your comments
and suggestions concerning the preliminary agenda, especially the
Kannel Users Section, are needed and welcome. Also, if you wish to give
a presentation at the conference, please let us know about it via the
registration web page.

Preliminary Agenda

Thursday, 7 September, is a voluntary pre-conference session for those
interested in discussing marketing and promotion of Kannel and the
development of Kannel as an independent organization.

Friday, 8 September, is the first official conference day, beginning
with registration and opening remarks, followed by a full day of
developers discussion. In the evening, we will gather for a social
event, including a short cruise in the Hong Kong Bay and a dinner
(participation voluntary).

Saturday, 9 September, begins with the Kannel Users Section. We will
then continue with "hardcore" technology issues, where we can discuss
the problems that were brought up in the users session.

We have allotted 30 minutes for each coffee break, but the timetable is
flexible. Our goal is to generate fruitful discussion about Kannel. If
this happens during extended coffee breaks, that's ok with us.

Hotel

Wapit Ltd. has reserved a block of 50 rooms from the South Pacific Hotel
for conference participants from 6 - 10 September 2000. You must book
these rooms by 17 August at the latest. After this, the rooms will be
released. The room category is Superior (either Twin or Single) with a
complimentary newspaper and free use of hotel gymnasium. The room price
is 580 HK$ (75 US$), breakfast not included (price of breakfast is 96
HK$). You do not have to book the rooms for the currently reserved
period (6.9 - 10.9.2000) - you can decide if you want to stay for a
shorter or longer period (WAP Forum is in Hong Kong 10.9 - 15.9).

When you book your room, the hotel will require a non-refundable deposit
equivalent to one night's stay (580 HK$), payable by credit card or bank
transfer. The hotel will give you more exact information. To get the
special rate we have arranged, you must mention that you are
participating in the Kannel Developers Conference hosted by Wapit Ltd.
Please note that there will be many congresses and fairs going on in Hong
Kong at the same time, so it could be very difficult to make alternative
hotel arrangements. Please inform the hotel directly about any special
needs or wishes concerning the rooms. All hotel expenses are on the
participants' responsibility. All above prices are subject to a 10%
service charge.

In the South Pacific Hotel Wapit Ltd. has reserved a classroom style
meeting room for 50 persons. Wapit will bear the costs of the meeting
room and coffee breaks during the conference. Participants will be
responsible for their lunch. The hotel offers a buffet lunch for 98 HK$.
Mobile phones can be used in the meeting room and Internet connection is
available. If you have any special needs concerning the meeting room,
please inform Wapit Ltd. as soon as possible. If you would like, bring
a one-page description of your company and/or your Kannel activities.
We will make these available for conference participants in the meeting
room. (We all know that the Kannel Developers Conference is not a
marketing venue, so keep this in mind if you bring material.)

Social event
In the evening of 8 September there will be a voluntary social event
beginning at 18:00, which includes a cruise in the Hong Kong Bay
(unlimited drinks) to a local village where dinner will be served. The
duration of the event will be about 3½ hours. Participation in the social
event costs HK$ 320 (US$ 40) per person. Transportation from the hotel to
the harbour and back is included in the price.

In order to book this event at this price, we need you to register as
soon as possible, but not later than 15 August 2000. For the quoted price,
a minimum of 30 persons need to participate, so we would appreciate it if
you would register for the social event at the web pages, if you are
interested. If you don't register in advance, we cannot guarantee that
there will be an opportunity for you to join in. If enough people don't
register, there will be no organized social event.
