Read carefully the docs, you should insert into kannel.conf even this lines (example):

group = modems
id = wavecom
name = Wavecom
detect-string = "WAVECOM"
init-string = "AT+CNMI=1,2,0,0,0"
no-pin = true
speed=9600

  After 1 month of not having time, I updated my kannel CVS to the latest relase only to discover, that i get the following error when starting the bearerbox:

  2002-04-23 16:50:15 [5] PANIC: Where are the modem definitions ?!?!


  Im running the box on a Debian Linux with a wavwcom GSM modem.
