Siemens TC35 and AT+CMGF

I am using a Siemens TC35 (firmware v2.01). 

The AT+CMGF=0 command always fails which causes the at2_init_device()
function to fail and hence the modem does not start.

I think it would be better to check if this command is supported by
doing a AT+CMGF=? first.
