Yes. The connection to SMSC is OK.
The configuration is as follows:
    group = smsc
    smsc =smpp
    smsc-id = HTTP
    host = wapgw
    port =8888
    receive-port = 8888
    system-type = kannel
    smsc-username = "500"
    smsc-password = "8888"

In the log file, two threads are started and no error found:
  DEBUG: Started thread 1 (gw/smsc_smpp.c:io_thread)
  DEBUG: Started thread 2 (gw/smsc_smpp.c:io_thread)
