I like this..  We could alter the status page to display a "link number".
Small change though
smsc=link1  start/stops all "link1" links
smsc=link1:1 start/stops the 1st link of the group "link1"
smsc-no=5 start/stops the 5th link

Otherwise smsc-ids that are a numeric (silly, but it may happen), will 
cause problems.

We should think about getting the stop /start to reload the config file for 
that link. This way we can change the configuration and simply stop/start 
that link, rahter than bouncing Kannel.
