please follow Odeds hint, that should work for you.

If you are interested on living on the edge, please try the current
cvs tree without the 'interface-version' setting.

The cvs tree contains parts of the v3.4 implementation and it would be
interesting to see what happens on your connection. You could pass us
the bearerbox.log results if you don't mind.
