Error in AT2 driver - 0 length PDU

Am I correct in assuming that the messages should be in locations 1 and 2 or do you have to cycle through the 25 locations looking for the messages ? In which the ERROR: is not really an error - ie. an empty location is valid ? Its also possible that the SIM is gradually dying - the modem is doing thousands of messages/week and SIMs die on a regular basis.
