MMS over WAP

Hello,

Has anyone ever heard of using MMS with a SMS alert to the receiver
instead of the WAP push, and the response coming over CSD without
WAP being enabled for that particular phone?

What I need to know is for MMS is it absolutely essential that I have
subscribed
for a WAP connection with my service provider?  Is there someway I can do
away
with WAP?

Any help in this regard would be appreciated.
