how to kill kannel

hi,
it comes very easy to kill kannel by sending to it SMS message with
alpha source address.

Bearer box (v.1.3.1) gracefully dies with gwlib/octstr.c:1256:
octstr_append_char: Assertion`ch<=UCHAR_MAX failed.

Last message from smsbox Immutable octet strings: 196

You also are unable to restart bearerbox with recuperate SIM messages
as it tries to serve this message. (I have Wavecom as SMSC).

May be any SMS messages with alpha source address should be ignored?
or at least to have an option to ignore them.
