Let me explain, what is it we'd like to do:

There is an annual festival that lasts 2 weeks. There are many events
every day. We manage a web site that covers the festival, has all the
latest updates to the festival program and such stuff.

People go through the festival program and decide what events they don't
want to miss. They subscribe to the event by entering their e-mail address
and optionally their GSM phone number.

A specified amount of time before the event starts, the software would
send e-mail notification to all subscribed to the event.

As an addition to that, last year, we had a 'normal' GSM phone connected
to a computer via RS232, that sent out SMS reminders to those people that
entered their GSM phone numbers. That phone also received SMS from other
and the software would read them and post them on the web.

The idea was to do the same with MMS (for people that have MMS capable
phones). Obviously, insted of plain text, messages would include
multimedia (images).

I thing we'd need some software to convert MMS images to more web oriented
formats (PNG, JPEG) and vice versa. We'd also need some software to
actually talk to the phone to up/download images, send messages, etc.

All the MMSC stuff you were talking about seems like an overkill and
sounds a bit frightening. :)

We have till the end of the month to tell what can do and then till
19.6.03 to actually do it. The traffic amount is expected to be rather low
as not that many people have MMS phones yet and the festival is rather
local.
