All messages coming into kannel generate an event (WSP or WTP one depending protocol in question). This structure implements abstract services as defined in wapforum specs (one field for one service). This data is destroyed after the message is handled. A protocol transaction (say connection establishment) demands many messages for both peers. For this, Kannel uses state machines implementing directly state tables in the specs.
