help!!!!!

we are a group of computer science students from the
University of the Philippines. 

we would like to develop an application that could
download and view an e-mail attachment using a mobile
phone. we have decided to use Java 2 Micro Edition for
the application. 

where does kannel fit in in this set-up? how could the
kannel gateway make the project easier for us? what
can it do?
