"real" stable version

Hi,
   There are plans to use kannel as a part of a integration project.  Has seen
on the site, the "stable" version is 1.2.1 . AFAIK, this version is known to
have some bugs and less features than the current devel version. In the devel
list, i read comments that "..the stable 1.2.1 is outdated in terms of bug
fixes and improvements...", "...Please switch to the current CVS head tree
which is defacto the most stable version..."

   My question is... which version i "really" should pick for a project that
will be implemented in a production environment?...or, what is the "real stable"
version?
