Looking for contract developer with SMPP Gateway and Kannel experience

 

A major project is under way that will involve the use of the Kannel
product for SMPP (3.4) Gateway functionality.  This is in support of a
large-scale commercial SMS premium content service in use by hundreds of
thousands of customers.  The SMPP Gateway is required to enable
real-time Authentication/Authorization/Accounting (AAA) via live
connectivity with an external enterprise billing and rating platform.  

 

Premium SMS Services supported include Chat Services, Ring-tones, Logos,
and Content Subscriptions.  Multi-part messages must be handled.  A
failover process must also be provided that approves and logs all
transactions in case of connectivity failure with the rating and billing
environment.

 

The Gateway would stand between several SMSCs and a small number of
ESMEs (content providers) who are connected to the SMSCs via one-way or
two-way connections.  The Gateway will support MO and MT billing.  It
will pass through or reject messages based on AAA responses.  It will
receive message delivery confirmations and pass these results through
the AAA interface as well.  The project team will provide detailed
process flows for each kind of message path.

 

We are looking for one of two kinds of roles, EITHER:

 

A full-time, Kannel experienced, developer who can participate for the
next 3 to 4 months and take responsibility for developing and testing
changes to the SMPP Gateway in close coordination with the work on the
rating and billing platform.  Some travel is required for this role.

 

OR

 

A part-time Kannel experienced developer who can dedicate a minimum of 8
hours per week providing guidance to a developer with good C/C++ skills
but minimal SMPP-specific knowledge.
