How to send data to cell phone from Kannel Push Proxy Gateway

Ok I'm new at all this but if someone is willing to explain to me if this is
possible and how so then I would appreciate it.

 

I'm wanting to push ringtones, sms, apps and images to my Sprint cell phone
(or any cell phone) using Kannel Push Proxy Gateway. Is this possible? I
have Kannel installed on my Linux box and it's running. I'm about to run a
test using the Nokia simulator software from another PC on my network but I
would love to test it by pushing a test message or ringtone to my cell phone
(sprint pcs). Does this cost money to connect to Sprint or other cell phone
networks? How is this done? Do I have to buy a modem for my server to
connect to their networks? What if I want to push content to a lot of users
then is there a better solution than the modem route?
