Basic question

Hey All

I have a basic question about using kanel.
Is it possible to use kannel to send sms to (SMPP) and receive replies from 
it, without using any actual smsc?
I tried using fakesmsc but i dont think that uses smpp protocol. so i was 
wondering as to how i could simulate such a situation.
Do let me know if it is possible, and if so how i can do it.
