Hi Alex,

ok, looking to gw/smsc_at.c:713 this seems to mean you received simply a line 
"ERROR" from the GSM device, but no "known" error code. Due that the errcode 
variable is not initialized, you seem to get that 1069128089 number from the 
address space.

Nevertheless I checked-in a new version to CVS, fixing at least the 
mis-understanding of the ERROR outputs.

For your specific problem regarding the hardware handshake, don't know. 
Obviously your device returned only the line ERROR while Kannel tried to 
initialise the device. Please retry with a new cvs snapshot.
