btw, whats the point at creating an own logging mechanism? syslog and its sucessors work fine, and in some case even offer network transparency... The log process will stay alive, after the crash... So it will write the data if it doesn't crash itself, or the whole box crashes (which could be done via network logging) Wilfried Goesgens
