now, the access.log entry stated flags:-1:1:

which means you have passed coding=1 (=8bit=binary) via the sendsms interface. 
What happens if you ommit the '&coding=xx' parameter and simply send a normal 
text message without specifying coding? Default is should be 7bit text.
