now, MMS contains communication protocols in some sence, consider the MMSEncap
within MM1 layer. ;)

Now, we had some students that wanted to add a smsbox-alike daemon to "dock" to
bearerbox (that handels the multi-protocol layer) and abstract the MO and MT
message flow within that daemon to Java API calls.

But I'm not aware of how far those projects got.

I consider it a good and value-worth effort to develop a hybrid attaching point
for Java calls to access the message flow capabilities of Kannel.

So, the first thing you may need is to understand how Kannel itself works. See
the related architecture documents that can be found on our web site.

Then make a software design/architecture for your own Java extention-box that
docks to bearerbox via Kannel's own TCP communication layer interface.

I guess we have a lot of users here that are familiar with Java, that can
comment and support.
