How many simultaneous connections can Kannel receive

Hi,

We are using the latest Kannel CVS with Mysql and had a problem yesterday
where Kannel refused to accept a connection to send an SMS.

Is the only limit the max-connections parameter?  This parameter Kannel uses
to work out the number of connections it has to connect to the database. 

group = mysql-connection
id = connect
host = localhost
username = xxxx
password = yyyy
database = text
# max count of connections that will be opened for dbpool
max-connections = 5

Or is there any other limit?
