Problem in sending special character, character become empty when received

Hi,

	When i try to send out character with special character like "~" and "^".
When it received, both character will become empty, meaning i cannot view
the same character. Only when i send it in unicode type, i'll be able to
view the character sended. Anyone face the same problem b4?
