Kannel logic in case of connection lost

Hi

 

I would like to monitor the health of the Kannel connection to the SMSC
( connecting to SMSC via SMPP3.4)

What will be the behavior of the Kannel in case the connection to the
SMSC is lost  ? 

Is it trying to re-connect for ever ?  what kind of events I can get
about connection lost ?  

I would like to send trap/alert in case it does not connected .  

Any idea ?
