about fake smsc

Hello all,
I have some questions about fake sms center,
1.What exactly fake smsc evaluates? Does it emulate real smsc's
functionallity? If it's true, why it produces fake messages? I mean
where fake smsc is actually placed in kannel structure? before
bearerbox or after it?

2. fakesmsc.c doesn't exist in ubuntu synaptic version of kannel. How
can I use fakesmsc in synaptic version
