Interesting ...

1) Can you tell us where they state this please? It might explain our
problems. (We got very unreliable service via an Orange SMSC number,
though off-hand I can't remember which one. In the end we switched to a
Vodafone SMSC number, even though the phones are still with Orange. It's
much better, though still not as good (ie (a) reliable and (b) quick) as a
Vodafone/Vodafone setup. YMMV)

2) How can they tell whether you are connecting through a modem? (I ask in
total ignorance of such matters)
