update: now it works.. I'd didn't do anything that I know of other than 
install rc1 and create a new profile for that, but I haven't used rc1 on 
the profile I made for the trunk build.. and made sure that i'm indeed 
running the correct build and profile to check this out.. This problem 
occured after I installed it the first time..  just after subscribing to 
newsgroups.. so maybe that is a pre-requisite to seeing that a problem 
may still be there.. hopefully that is not the case... and it is fixed up.
