BRANCH tree status 2002-04-16

We're respinning builds; the plan is to keep the tree closed until we 
get a decent set of builds that pass at least basic smoketests. We'll 
also get a tree ready for tagging RC1. Once that is done, we will open 
the branch to further driver approved checkins, probably sometime 
between 6pm and 8pm PDT.

The builds we make this afternoon will get hammered on until they are 
deemed suitable, and we will hopefully ship with them tomorrow. If not, 
we repeat the candidate spin process tomorrow.
