Because overloading middle-click--which is currently totally
consistent in behavior--with something that has the opposite meaning
is bad UI, and assigning permanent shortcuts to something that's
inconsistent both between windows and from moment to moment makes a
lot less sense than assigning it to something consistent and generally
stable.
