rh 9 moz 1.2.1 spell check crash

new to this forum

downloading and installing rpm for rh 9 desktop
reboothing machine spell check totally crashes mozill and mail
i have tried other mozilla spell downloads trying to find the one that 
works--all crash my system
any ideas?--i am giving serious taught to upgrading mozilla but and 
rather apprehesive that it might break my system as my email 
unfortunately is now crucial to my productivity
