I had random crash issues after upgrading to 1.0.1 and i solved it by
uninstalling firefox from add/remove programs and deleting the mozilla
firefox folder under program files before reinstalling 1.0.1

Your profile is safe, as it's located in your profile folder under
documents and settings, but a good backup is always nice to have...
just in case, y'know... ;o)

If you also have previous install tracks in add/remove programs remove
all of them by pretending to uninstall single older versions after you
remove the newest one.

That did the trick for me.
