Mozilla or Netscape won't start

I have installed both Netscape 7.1 and Mozilla 1.4 on my WinXP Pro box. 
  I have removed the one before trying to install the other.  Both 
appear to complete the install successfully, but when I click on the 
icon, neither program will open.  I get the "hour-glass" for perhaps 
5-10 seconds and then nothing.

Both IE (but it crashes on trying to open some URLs) and Opera 7.1 work 
on this machine.  Opera hasn't crashed as yet.

Any suggestions?
