MathML induced Gecko crashes

Recent Gecko based browsers exhibit crashes on some MathML pages.

Affected browsers are:  
Mozilla 1.5 (Linux), Mozilla Firebird 0.7 (Windows + Linux) and 
Galeon 1.3.10 (with Mozilla 1.5 Gecko engine).

Other/older versions, including Mozilla 1.2.1 (Linux),
Netscape 7.0.1 (Linux), Netscape 7.1 and Mozilla Firebird 0.6 are not 
affected.

But what is the crucial difference that makes some pages crash Mozilla 
but others not?
