Fixing performance issues is an ongoing effort. See
https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=733039#c52
for some information about why its not so easy.

There is a GSoC project proposal this year to work on performance issues
using a specific method and another one that will make the storage
provider a lot faster.

I hope this will make it better for everyone.
