I'm no expert in iCalendar standard -- I've just taken a fast glance at 
RFC 5545 and saw the ATTACH property description and some examples.  So, 
"attachment" is a well-defined property in the standard (RFC 5545).

Does it mean Google is *misusing* this property and Google does not 
follow the standard?  Then, maybe someone should report this to Google 
to see how they are going to cope with this error from them?

Or alternatively, is it possible to create a Mozilla-specific property 
as a (temporary) workaround for this aim?

I understand.  If a software is unable to deal with a property, as a 
convention, it should *leave it alone*.  But Google calendar seems to 
destroy it instead of leaving it alone (--> got to verify this point)

I do not use the specific provider-implementation to connect to Google 
calendar.  I personally prefer standard compliant way of doing things as 
stated in previous post.

I don't know.  I observed an unexpected behaviour and reported it and 
was wondering if there's a bug in Thunderbird or in Google calendar :)
