Compiling6.0.3 LDAP SDK with configure

I am trying to compile using cygwin and I am running into a few issues
which hopefully somebody can point me in the right direction.

start up cygwin
./configure (not sure if I need to supply any options)

Next should I be running gmake or make. I don't seem to have gmake in
my cygwin envirornent so I tried running make

If make is the correct thing to run I can download msinstall from some
where but I jsut want to make sure I am on the right track

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
