setting LDAP version in Sun ONE LDAP C SDK 5.08

Can anyone tell me the API for setting the version to LDAPv3 using the
SUN ONE LDAP C SDK 5.08. Does this SDK provide this facility? I am not
able to find it..I  have to do that since I am getting a version
error...
