How to prevent hyperlinks/form submit from opening

What's up with all these spams:(

I am using Mozilla to preview the editing of HTML document. One of the
requirements is for the preview to remain on that page, i.e. user
clicking on hyperlinks or form submit should have no effect. How can
this be done using xpcom? Thanks in advance.
