Is JavaXPCOM pretty much a dead end?

Had used JavaXPCOM with XULRunner 1.9 in previous project and moved to
webkit. I am now seriously thinking about going back to XULRunner for
a new project. However it looks like JavaXPCOM has been removed from
XULRunner 2. Is it still possible to build Java language binding in
XULRunner 2 or is it pretty much the end of the story?
