Firefox seems to override my GTK configuration (~/.gtkrc)

Hi,
I'm running Firefox 1.0.7 under SGI IRIX.
I've tuned my ~/.gtkrc to make GTK apps looks like
IRIX natives apps.
I've configured menu fonts to be in italic, but Firefox 
override this setting and keep normal fonts, non-italic.
Is there a way to force it to use my font?
I've looked in about:config but I didn't find anything.
Anyone can help me?
