Mozilla 1.7.2 doesn't even try fetching stylesheet

My file starts-out

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>

<?xml-stylesheet type="text/xsl" href="http://tgagne/xsl/profitability.xsl" ?>

But the data is just splatted onto the screen.  According to ethereal, mozilla 
doesn't even try fetching the stylesheet.  IE did, so there must be a subtle 
issue here.

Without the stylesheet line, mozilla recognizes the file as XML and displays 
the tree.

You should know the XML file and the XSL file are served from different 
places.  If I entery the URL for the XSL it is retrieved correctly, and INFO 
reports its type text/xml.

Any ideas?
