pass URL to helper application

Does anyone know if it is possible to pass the URL of a file on to the
helper application that is designated to open it? I know
LaunchServices sends the application an 'odoc' AppleEvent eventually.
Does this event have that information embedded in it? Or does Mozilla
set any environment variables?
