Updating the Moz Suite on Mac OS X

I see that 1.7.8 is out, so I guess it is time to update again.

One thing I've never understood about the instructions at
http://www.mozilla.org/docs/end-user/guide/get-started.html
is the uninstall instructions (since it is recommended to
uninstall first).

Uninstalling Mozilla

    To uninstall Mozilla,

    1.  Remove the application files in
        /Users/<yourusername>/Library/Mozilla
        (but leave the Profiles sub-folder).

    2.  Remove the file Mozilla Registry from
        /Users/<yourusername>/Library/Preferences

    3.  Remove Mozilla from the installed location.
        (i.e. /Applications)

One is clear enough ( Application Registry & pluginreg.dat .)
Three is also clear and simple.

But I don't understand number two.  The only file which
seems to be Mozilla related is "org.mozilla.mozilla.plist",
but that's hardly "Mozilla Registry".   I've always deleted
the former.  Am I missing something here?  Is that the right
file/necessary?? (Is this perhaps an OS 9-ism?)


Hmm, just did some Google searching and found
http://kb.mozillazine.org/Mozilla_:_Tips_:_How_to_uninstall_Mozilla
which adds file "Mozilla Versions" to the confusion.  It
explicitly covers OS X.


On a related note, shouldn't one issue a Force Quit against
Mozilla if it is running, before replacing the binary (step
3)?  On some Unix systems, replacing a running object file
is a Bad Thing.
