Um, I suggest upgrading to Mozilla suite 1.7.12

However, the instructions are the same in both versions
Edit-->Mail & Newsgroup Account Settings
scroll down to
Outgoing Server (SMTP)
[its the last entry in the account settings]
You can check the box to use user name and password
entering the username in the space provided
the password will be requested the first time you use such, check the 
remember box.
You can also set TLS or SSL but only if they are requested by the ISP.
