netscape and https applet problem

Hi 
I have an applet which redirects the user to an https address.
It works fine on both IE(6) and Netscape(6) on a PC and IE on the Mac
but fails on Netscape on the Mac. 

Is it the case that applets cannot access https addresses running on
Netsacape and a Mac?
