Mozilla 1.4 Splash screen OS X 10.2.6

Under normal circumstances I find splash screens annoying, but I love
the Mozilla Splash screen I get on my OS 9 system.

Having installed (finally!) OS X on my laptop, I gleefully added
Mozilla to my browser arsenal. I prefer it's bookmark handling to
Safari's.

Problem is, I don't get my fire breathing dragon. Nothing. Bupkus.

I've done some searches and found that people have:
a. created splash screens (which I downloaded)
b. changed their splash screens (but only in Windows, blah blah
bitmaps...)

Question 1: How do I activate the splash screen?
Question 2: How do I change it?

P.S.  I'm not a very experienced OS X user yet and I'll need detailed
instructions.
