Working on the Apple Address Book integration extension

Hey folks ... I posted a while ago about working on [see subject line] ... it's going slowly trying to find spare time and getting dirty w/ the moz code .. coupla things:

I was burning the midnight oil last night mucking about w/ xul this, xul that ... Ideally i'd like the apple address book to appear in the same places the other address books are ... when you click on the address book in the Tbird tool bar, you get a 3 paned window ... i'd like the Apple Address Book to appear in that list .. haven't really figured out where it pulls those sources from, and how to intercept (I'm very much a mozilla/xul newbie) .. it looked like it got a list from the prefs.js file ... ldap_2.something.or.other settings ... but that didn't mean anything to me in terms of implementing what I'm trying to implement ... also obviously have TBird scan the address book for auto-completing email addresses as you're typing them into the To:/Cc:/Bcc: fields of new email composition ...  if anyone has any great insight into anyway of intercepting Moz and putting my stuff in along w
 ith its stuff, this, I'm all ears ... again, I haven't done much research into it ... I'll
 get it eventually,  I'm just letting you know where I am @ the moment :-)


SO, in the mean time, I think I'm gonna start it off working something like the Contacts Sidebar extensions (http://update.mozilla.org/extensions/moreinfo.php?application=thunderbird&id=70&vid=75) ... have a list of contacts in some  window element, you can click on the contact and the primary email appears in a new email window ... This of course is the bare minimum of what i want to do, but at least it would be something to start w/ and develop more fully over time.

I also have another general quetsion, tho ... I'm developing this w/ Moz 1.7 since I can't seem to find any build w/ the DOM Inspector for TBird .7 ... I looked around for any hint, but it seems it's only available w/ the win.zip d/l .. if I want this, would I have to compile from source? ... is there a switch from the command line?

Ohh .. which leads me to another question ... I don't seem to be able to access the profile manager anymore in tbird .7 ... i try starting it up w/ the option key down ... going to the command lind and doing: > thunderbird-bin -p (as a hint from macosxhints.com suggested) .. or thunderbird-bin -ProfileManager (as suggested by typing thundbird-bin -help) .. but those two just start and kill a process.

any suggestions along those lines? Excuse the long rant ..
