configure says libIDL/IDL.h: wchar.h not found

Hi,

my Mac OSX build failed because there was no wchar.h on my machine. What 
  library or toolkit does this file come with? Sorry if this is an 
elementary question, but I'm a mac newbie. I'm compiling on OSX 10.3.3, 
with the latest Fink and Virex 7.2.1 (should not conflict, right?) and 
ORBit 0.6.8.
